Technical Display Ltd were recently awarded the contract to Design, Supply, Install and Maintain the audio visual element of the Chelmsford City Council main chamber refurbishment.

Working closely with the client, main contractor and architect, we designed a comprehensive audio visual solution to compliment the new contemporary facilities. The newly installed audio visual equipment is controlled from two easy to operate, AMX touch panels. Simply touch the screen and the system turns on automatically, the lights will turn on to a pre-set level, and the motorised black out blinds will close. The selection of different inputs/projected images and volume control is also available from each of the touch screens. The room has been designed so that the tables and Seating can be set out in a number of different configurations. This provides prospective customers who are looking to rent the facilities with flexibility, enabling them to run presentations from key desk positions, as well as from a centrally situated lectern. The main chamber seats 68 people at tables on the main floor. At the rear of the chamber, the auditorium has seating for approximately 124 people. Each desk has a wireless Bosch delegate microphone, with full voting capability. There are also several wall mounted, high resolution automatic cameras that simply track and zoom in to any person/delegate that is talking.

Other equipment that has been integrated within the chamber is as follows:

  • Bespoke designed Lectern with USB socket for reading presentations and data, as well as a DVD player and connections for a laptop or iPad
  • Laptop & visualiser presentations (one at a time) can be run from two key desk positions
  • Motorised Drop-down High specification ceiling projectors and two wall mounted, electric 4.5 metre wide screens
  • Smart podium – provides an interactive writing and collaboration tool
  • Visualiser – allows a presenter to place an object or a hard copy document on a platform, above which is mounted a video camera. Whatever the camera zooms into can be viewed on all screens in real time.
  • Static and roaming microphone capability, as well as lapel microphones and remote mouse
  • Infra-red hearing system for the hard of hearing
  • 2 off HD 60″ wall mounted screens, mounted on to motorised wall brackets
  • High quality audio throughout the chamber
